Elementary, middle and high school

  • Elementary school

In 2017-2018, I started an astronomy program at the Cabanac-et-Villagrains elementary school for all grades, consisting in an interactive lecture in each classroom on the following themes:

  • 1st-2nd grade (CP-CE1): Les phases de la Lune et les éclipses
  • 2nd-4th grade (CE1-CE2-CM1): Le Système Solaire
  • 4th-5th grade (CM1-CM2): La conquête spatiale

In parallel, I mentored the project “Notre Terre, une planète du Système Solaire” education project of the 1st grade (CP) of this school. They were competing for the SF2A “Découvrir l’Univers” Prize (competition website). The themes of this project were: the terrestrial globe, the Earth-Sun couple, the Earth-Moon couple and the tides, the Sun-Earth-Moon system: moon phases and eclipses, the Earth in the Solar System. The project consisted of a series of experiments, interactive presentations, observations, artistic model of the Solar System, etc.

The kids were awarded the SF2A Jury Prize in July 2018 and won a Solarscope for their school. Congratulations! (More on this post)

This programme has continued in 2018-2019 and I have proposed the following interactive lectures:

  • The Sun for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades (CP, CE1 and CE2)
  • The exploration of the Solar System) for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades (CE2, CM1 and CM2)

I was also due to organize an observation of the Sun with the Solarscope, but the Sun is still in a very quiet period and we are still waiting for the first spots to appear.

In 2018-2019, I have also visited the Charruauds primary school in Libourne to help the teacher to prepare a visit of the Cité de l’Espace. I made a presentation of the Solar System to the kids.

  • Middle school
Project “Astro à l’école” at the Collège Léo Drouyn in Vérac (33, France) in 2018-2019, with presentation on “The conquest of the Moon” and “The colors in the Solar System”
Project “Astro à l’école – Les ressources de l’espace” at the Collège Léo Drouyn in Vérac (33, France) in 2012-2013, with a presentation on “Water on Mars”
  • High School
Presentation “La Conquête de Mars” at the Lycée Max-Linder in Libourne in May 2006.
