Created in 2017 by CNES, the Space’ibles space foresight observatory has launched its annual call for projects to understand current developments in space in order to building its future strategy. The CENSUS center at Observatoire de Paris | PSL is co-leading the bid won by Adæquate consulting on lot no. 1 “After NewSpace” as an expert on NewSpace..
In response to the 4th call for tenders issued by the Space’ibles space foresight observatory, the CENSUS center of expertise at Paris Observatory | PSL – a member of the Fédération Nanosats – and the Adæquate consulting company have proposed to develop a reflection on the post-NewSpace era, a movement that has been evolving rapidly over the last two decades. What are the current mega-trends? Where is the space sector heading in the short and medium term?
In an attempt to answer these questions, Adæquate consulting and CENSUS are proposing to carry out a study based on a panel of experts from the political, economic, socio-cultural, technological and legal sectors. The aim is, on the one hand, to describe the current system and understand its history, functioning and players, and, on the other, to envisage possible scenarios to help CNES in its decision-making.
This pairing is perfectly suited to carry out this project, since it combines expertise in the fields of foresight and scientific nanosatellites. With its support for numerous scientific nanosatellite projects, CENSUS is firmly rooted in NewSpace, and therefore benefits from an excellent understanding of the needs, issues and practices of the scientific and industrial communities in this environment. With its extensive experience in foresight and advanced academic training, Adæquate consulting has the most appropriate methods for carrying out this analysis. Combined, they will be able to offer CNES a solid analysis and credible evolution scenarios, crucial to the development of its future positioning.
