{"id":69,"date":"2026-02-28T23:08:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T22:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.lesia.obspm.fr\/julien-girard\/a-propos-english\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T13:38:43","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T12:38:43","slug":"a-propos-english","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.lesia.obspm.fr\/julien-girard\/en\/a-propos-english\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em><strong><em>Associate professor in Astronomy &amp; Astrophysic<\/em>s<\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My name is Julien Girard, and I am an associate professor at <a href=\"https:\/\/lira.obspm.fr\/\"><strong>LIRA<\/strong><\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/observatoiredeparis.psl.eu\/\"><strong>Observatoire de Paris<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/u-paris.fr\/\"><strong>Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0432-403X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle\" src=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/orcid_16x16.png\" alt=\"ORCID iD\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I work in the field of low-frequency radio (between 10 MHz and 100 MHz) to study radio emissions in planetary and exoplanetary systems, signatures of plasma activity and electron populations in the environment of these planets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am also a radio interferometrist, specializing in synthetic aperture imaging applied to large low-frequency radio telescopes (<strong>LOFAR<\/strong>, <strong>NenuFAR<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I participated in the definition and optimization of the architecture of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nenufar.obs-nancay.fr\/\"><strong>NenuFAR<\/strong><\/a> instrument (Research Infrastructure), now in operation at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.obs-nancay.fr\/\"><strong>Nan\u00e7ay Radio Astronomy Observatory<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My research activities also focus on digital signal processing, inverse problem solving, electromagnetic simulation and the application of deep learning methods to imaging and massive data processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also contribute to the European <a href=\"https:\/\/extract-project.eu\/\"><strong>EXTRACT<\/strong><\/a> project and, as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/eclat-lab.fr\/\"><strong>ECLAT<\/strong><\/a> joint laboratory, to defining solutions for the future French <strong>SKA Regional Centre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My CV <a href=\"https:\/\/share.obspm.fr\/s\/QQF5dZDfMRmAysG\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.lesia.obspm.fr\/julien-girard\/pas-le-bon-julien-girard-not-the-julien-girard-you-are-looking-for\/\">Not the right Julien Girard?
