C\u2019est la question pour laquelle une \u00e9quipe du LISA, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.lesia.obspm.fr\/federation-nanosats\/membres\/\">membre de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Nanosats<\/a>, men\u00e9e par Herv\u00e9 Cottin et No\u00ebl Grand a con\u00e7u l\u2019exp\u00e9rience IR-COASTER (InfraRed-Cubic Orbital Astrobiology Exposure Research).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce projet de recherche en astrobiologie est particuli\u00e8rement important puisque la mati\u00e8re organique est suppos\u00e9e \u00eatre l\u2019ingr\u00e9dient indispensable \u00e0 l\u2019apparition de la vie. Am\u00e9liorer la connaissance de l\u2019\u00e9volution chimique en environnement extraterrestre est ainsi fondamental dans la compr\u00e9hension de la distribution de la mati\u00e8re organique dans l\u2019Univers et de la recherche de la vie sur une autre plan\u00e8te. Le responsable principal de l\u2019\u00e9volution chimique dans le syst\u00e8me solaire est le rayonnement solaire. S\u2019il est possible de simuler en laboratoire l\u2019\u00e9volution des mol\u00e9cules organiques, il reste n\u00e9anmoins ardu de feindre les conditions en environnement spatial, en particulier la lumi\u00e8re et le vent solaires. Envoyer des \u00e9chantillons dans l\u2019espace pour les exposer directement au rayonnement du Soleil est donc incontournable.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initialement con\u00e7u comme un nanosatellite 6U, IR-COASTER a finalement b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 de l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00eatre install\u00e9 sur la plateforme Bartolomeo du module Columbus de la Station spatiale internationale. Son dispositif rest\u00e9 quasiment aussi compact qu\u2019en configuration nanosatellite, emporte \u00e0 son bord des \u00e9chantillons de mati\u00e8re organique et un spectrom\u00e8tre infrarouge (4000-1000 cm<sup>-1<\/sup>). Jusqu\u2019ici lors d\u2019exp\u00e9riences pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes, les \u00e9chantillons \u00e9taient contr\u00f4l\u00e9s seulement deux fois, avant le d\u00e9part puis au retour.
